The Bridges Golf Club

Livermore Golf Courses
Livermore golf has a lot to offer. From the 27-hole NCGA course at Poppy Ridge to the 9-hole muni course in Springtown, there is something for golfers at every level.
Poppy Ridge is a Reese Jones built NCGA course (4280 Greenville Rd, Livermore, CA 94550, (925)456-8202). Its sister course Poppy Hills hosts the Pebble Beach pro-am every year. Poppy Ridge is a challenging layout over its 27 holes. The Zinfandel course (9 hole, 3,535 yds, Par 36, CR-74.8, S-141) Merlot course (9 hole, 3,593 yds, Par 36, CR-74.8, S-14) and the Chardonney Course (9 hole, 3,513 yds, Par 36, CR-74.8, S-141) make up the 27 holes. All 3 courses have many elevation changes and wind is usually a factor on all three. Rates for NCGA members are pretty good. You will usually save $20 or so on a round if you are a NCGA member.
The course at Wente Vineyards is another challenging design (5050 Arroyo Rd, Livermore, CA 94550, (925)456-2475). Designed by “The Shark” Greg Norman in 1998 (18 hole, 6,949 yds, Par 72, CR-74.5, S-142) this 18 hole course used to play host to the Nationwide tour every year. It had a reputation as one of the hardest courses on the Nationwide schedule.
Las Positas is a great municipal golf course in Livermore (917 Club House Dr, Livermore, CA 94551, (925)455-7820). It has a nice 18 hole course built in 1966 by Robert Muir Graves. (18 hole, 5,709 yds, Par 72, CR-68.2, S-116) as well as a small executive course (9 hole, 2,034 yds, Par 31). Las Positas has a wonderful junior program called “juniors at Las Positas” that is highly affordable and allows kids of all ages to compete for prizes.
Springtown golf course (939 Larkspur Dr, Livermore, CA 94551, (925)455-5695) is a nice 9 hole course (9 hole, 2,769 yds, Par 35, CR-35, S-114) which has a great men’s club that hosts tournaments every week. It has seen some owner changes in the last couple years and because of this the course is in great shape. Best thing of all is the greens are rolling better than ever.
Livermore golf courses have a lot to offer. With the exception of Springtown, All three golf courses have driving range practice facilities. Springtown has a great chipping green with a huge bunker and a nice practice green as well. The owners and employees at Forever Putting Greens love there hometown Livermore golf courses. We grew up on them and continue to support them!

Pleasanton Backyard Putting Greens
Most homes in Pleasanton, CA have enough space to allow for a backyard putting green. Putting Greens are great additions to people’s yards because it will save you money in water usage, and you’ll turn your backyard into a putting paradise.
Back yard putting greens in Pleasanton would be a great addition to most peoples landscaping because it’s an area that would be maintenance free for years to come. A “Real lawn” requires a lot more attention than a maintenance free putting green would. That way you don’t have to worry about the water, weeds, rodents, edging and mowing your lawn areas. Most yards in Pleasanton have front and back lawns, so why not keep the front lawn for all the neighbors and public to see, and add a Backyard Putting Green for your self.
If you practice your putting just once or twice a week, from the time that you saved in caring your landscaping, you’ll begin to develop a great short game. When the average golfer goes to the driving range, they hit balls for about an hour, and quickly run out of time to work on their short games. This way you can improve, on your game in the privacy of you home, and people don’t need to see you chunk or thin a chip! With a backyard putting green, you’ll get a chance to fine tune your short game and keep your touch fresh and sharp. At Forever Putting Greens we are dedicated to saving you time and energy so you can put that back into your short game. We believe if you have a Pleasanton Backyard Putting Green, you will be able to practice, entertain, save money, and shave strokes off your game for years to come. Forever Putting Greens has been installing backyard putting greens for 5 years directly out of the Tri-valley area, So please give us a call when your ready to PUTT…….925.443.7888(PUTT). www.Grassforever.com

Bocce Ball Courts on Synthetic Grass
Bocce courts are a wonderful addition to any backyard, park, community center or winery. Ages of all have been participating in this global sport for centuries. Bocce is traditionally played on natural soil, oyster shell, aggregate, sand or asphalt courts, which require lot of maintenance to keep them up to speed.
At Forever Putting Greens we have combined the right soil and aggregate compaction, and our top quality turf, to give our customers the best courts out there today. We use a turf that has the right, absorption, firmness, and extensive drainage to expel even the heaviest rainfall away from the court.
Our Bocce courts can be constructed with a concrete boarder, or a timber framed boarder around the court. The sub-base can be 4-18” depending on the soil, geographical region, or the surrounding landscape and hardscape. We can use a compacted crushed drain rock base, pour concrete, or even go as far as building the court on pervious concrete (Porous Concrete)
In pervious concrete, carefully controlled amounts of water and cementitious materials are used to create a paste that forms a thick coating around aggregate particles. A pervious concrete mixture contains little or no sand, creating a substantial void content. Using sufficient paste to coat and bind the aggregate particles together creates a system of highly permeable, interconnected voids that drains quickly. Typically, between 15% and 25% voids are achieved in the hardened concrete, and flow rates for water through pervious concrete are typically around 480 in./hr (0.34 cm/s, which is 5 gal/ft²/ min or 200 L/m²/min), although they can be much higher. Both the low mortar content and high porosity also reduce strength compared to conventional concrete mixtures, but sufficient strength for many applications is readily achieved.
While pervious concrete can be used for a surprising number of applications, its primary use is in pavement that returns water directly back to the environment. It has also has been referred to as porous concrete, permeable concrete, no-fines concrete, gap-graded concrete, and enhanced-porosity concrete.
Bocce ball courts are completely level with no slope to encourage runoff. So at Forever Putting Greens we prefer to use pervious concrete to drain the water directly through our profile as quickly and efficiently as possible.

History of Bocce Ball
Bocce is traditionally played on natural soil or asphalt courts approximately 60 to 90 feet in length and 8 to 13 feet wide, sometimes with wooden boards of approximately 4-12” in height surrounding the court. Bocce balls can be made of metal or various kind of plastic unlike lawn bowling bocce balls are spherical and have no inbuilt bias.
A game can be conducted between two players, or two teams of two, three, or four. A match is started by a randomly chosen side being given the opportunity to throw a smaller ball, the jack (called a pallino, or a boccino in some areas), from one end of the court into a zone about 15 feet in length, ending 6 feet from the far end of the court. If they miss twice, the other team is awarded the opportunity to place the jack anywhere they choose within the prescribed zone.
The side that first attempted to place the jack is given the opportunity to bowl first. Once the first bowl has taken place, the other side has the opportunity to bowl. From then on, the side which doesn’t have the ball closest to the jack has a chance to bowl, up until one side or the other has used their four balls. At that point, the other side bowls its remaining bocce balls. The team with the closest bocce ball to the jack is the only team that can score points in any frame. The scoring team receives one point for each of their balls that is closer to the jack than the closest ball of the other team. The length of a game varies by region, but is typically from 7 to 13 points.
Players are permitted to throw the ball in the air using an underarm action. This is generally used to knock either the jack or another ball away to attain a more favorable position, or to soften the ball and encourage it to stop quicker. Tactics can get quite complex when players have sufficient control over the bocce ball to throw or roll it accurately

For those of you considering a backyard putting green in the tri valley or bay area, there is a simple question you should ask yourself before calling an installer.
Can I hit shots to my green over 35 yards?
If your answer is NO, then a Nylon putting surface is probably for you. The only advantage a sand-filled polypropylene putting surface will give you is the ability to hit shots up to 150 yards away with a realistic ball response. If you are not building a par 3 golf hole in your backyard then Nylon is the way to go.
Nylon Turf
Advantages: Looks better, multi-directional surface (same putting speed in every direction), no maintenance.
Disadvantages: can receive golf balls from a max of only 35 yards. Farther than 35 yards away, your balls will have a unrealistic bounce.
Polypropylene turf
Advantages: receives golf shots up to 150 yards.
Disadvantages: requires 10 hrs maintenance annually, grainy putts (putts will be slower against the grain) has a browner, sandy look. If not maintained, your ball speed will get faster and faster every month untill it is an unrealistic speed.
Forever Putting Greens would love to install your project, consult with us today!!!!

A common question amongst our customers is whether artificial grass is suitable for pets, especially dogs. Forever Greens answer is always the same, yes, it’s a good choice. We have completed a ton of installs from dog lovers wanting a better environment for their animals. Forever Greens has done multiple dog runs in the Bay Area. If you are debating a synthetic grass installation, here are some of the benefits for dog and pet owners:
1. No more muddy paws and mess being tracking into your house.
2. No more dead patches of grass.
3. Hygienic. Urine will wash through the artificial grass just like normal grass. Solid waste will need to be scooped up and disposed of. Then just quickly hose down the artificial grass to remove any traces. If you are worried about odors and general cleanliness we can recommend Simple Green or similar pet products to be applied 2 times a year at most.
4. Deters digging. Dogs usually dig because of odors from the within the ground or, just as commonly, to bury things. With artificial grass the odors are minimized and even if your dog tried to dig he would find the artificial grass too strong. Think about how artificial grass is designed to withstand the wear and tear of 300 pound men in cleats playing football and then you can appreciate how strong it is.
5. Artificial grass with a sand infill is non toxic – important when considering your dog or other pets. The artificial grass is generally anti-microbial so micro organisms and bacteria find it difficult to establish themselves. Generally it is a more hygienic environment.
6. Artificial grass is not attractive to insects – they can’t eat it! In fact, there is no organic matter for them so they move on to the next yard. Ticks and fleas tend to stay away.
7. Properly installed artificial grass will allow rain water to drain away quickly. This helps to ensure that your lawn is always available for your dog or other pets to play on.
8. If you are replacing a lawn, the installation will pay for itself through water / maintenance savings in 3-5 years!

Artificial Putting Green
The art of building an Artificial Putting green takes a lot of patience and skill. To design the perfect green that masks an actual living green takes many years of sub base expertise and should not be installed by just any “landscape” company. If you live in the tri valley or bay area and need a putting green installed, it is very important to choose a company with real world golf course experience. Forever Putting Greens has been in business since 2005 and before the synthetic revolution, we built real grass greens. We had a hand in the construction of Ruby hills, The Bridges, and Dublin Ranch. Become one of the numerous golfers who are turning to pratice greens in their backyards so they can polish their short games like grandma’s fine silver.
With the technology of modern artifical turf, the artificial Putting Green and grass is becoming the landscape of the future. Made with 40% recycled Post consumer products, Artificial Putting Greens are not only sharpening golfers games, but saving water, and beautifing backyards all over.

Why? because the cost of this turf is $5 a square foot. How can we afford to sell it cheaper than cost? We install putting greens around northern California and the One Putt Pro matts I sell on ebay are excess peices from jobs past. Thats a big bonus for you because you are getting this top-of-the-line nylon turf UNDER COST.
